Ananda Sandhya of Kailash

On Sunday, 1 March 2026, Kailash organised a cultural evening titled “Ananda Sandhya” at the Rabindra Sadan auditorium, Kolkata. The programme, presented before a packed audience, was organised in three segments and featured a rich and diverse blend of devotional music, dance, dramatic performance, and Baul music.

The programme commenced with a soulful musical presentation by Smt. Shelley Ray Chowdhury, one of our close associates. With her melodious voice, she presented Sri Sri Gurubandana along with a Gaura Geeti composed by Swami Shivananda Giri Maharaj. She was felicitated by Smt. Nivedita Bhattacharya on behalf of the Ashram.

The next presentation was a graceful dance performance by three accomplished dancers, all above the age of eighty—Smt. Purnima Ghosh, Smt. Polly Guha, and Smt. Alokananda Ray. Their performance beautifully demonstrated that, in the pursuit of true artistic and spiritual discipline, age is merely a number. The three artists were felicitated respectively by Smt. Kuntala Majumdar, Smt. Arpita Pal, and Smt. Sarmila Banerjee.

This was followed by an impressive dramatic presentation titled “Bhanumati”, performed by Smt. Pranati Thakur. Based on an episode from the Mahabharata, the presentation portrayed the inner anguish, reflections, and emotional turmoil of Bhanumati, the wife of Duryodhana. Her sensitive and powerful portrayal received wide appreciation from the audience. Smt. Pranati Thakur was felicitated by Smt. Gopa Banerjee.

The concluding presentation of the evening was a Baul music performance by the internationally renowned Baul artist Smt. Parvathy Baul. Through her distinctive singing, dance, and deeply evocative style of presentation, she captivated the audience and transformed the atmosphere of the auditorium into one of joy, devotion, and spiritual celebration. Her performance, which continued for nearly an hour, was received with great enthusiasm and appreciation. On behalf of Kailash, a memento was presented to Smt. Parvathy Baul by Smt. Pranati Thakur.

The evening was not merely a cultural presentation but also a heartfelt offering at the holy feet of Sri Sri Maharaj—an expression of devotion, togetherness, and the joy that continues to bind all of us to His sacred memory and ideals.

We conclude with a prayer at the holy feet of Sri Sri Maharaj that “This joyous life of ours, centred around You, may continue to remain blessed and endure for years to come.”

Jai Guru. Jai Maharaj.
